A SORT-OF RANDOM TIMELINE
(START FROM THE BOTTOM)
2014
Made a smart and honest decision to commit my professional life to something I was passionate about: people + innovation. And dragonboat. I really can't live without it. Also, back on meat again.
2013
Drove across the country from Toronto to Vancouver with my dog pal, Bear. Shortly after, I became a vegetarian.
2012
Opened up a new Innovation Office for Skills for Change: collaborative, strategic and innovative solutions to transition skilled immigrants into the workforce.
2011
Made a last-minute decision to join the Toronto People With AIDS Foundation's Friends for Life Bike Rally and rode my commuter bike from Toronto to Montreal over a span of 6 days, totalling 660KM!!!
2010
Started up a dragon boat team with my friends, called, "StrokeIt!". They are now one of the most competitive rec teams in the Toronto region. I couldn't be more proud of them.
2009
Went to Korea for the first time in my life - my parents' old stomping grounds to teach SAT prep courses.
2008
Ditched a summer in Europe and decided to put my pennies towards law school instead. I cried when I got the admissions letter.
2007
Came out to my closest friends. One was shocked and cried; another not surprised at all and laughed at me for pretending to have liked a girl in high school.
2006
Honoured with the BMO Diversity Award. I joined Facebook and my life changed.
2005
Worked at my first social profit job and couldn't have been happier.
2004
Cut my finger trying cut open a frozen bagel. I bled out quite a bit but finished my food first before going to the hospital to get stitched up. It was a really good bagel.
2003
Honoured with the Lincoln M. Alexander Award. Represented my high school graduating class as Valedictorian. This was a year of redemption.
2002
Opened up the mailbox to find 3 university offers of admission. Beneath the 3 letters was a de-enrolment letter from my high school for attendance reasons. Life had played a cruel joke on me that day. I was also an idiot for having missed so many classes.
